A structured 4-week path guiding couples through the shock of discovering infidelity

You're not losing your mind.

Have you stopped sleeping?

Does it feel like you're either arguing constantly, or not talking at all?

Walking on eggshells any time there isn't an argument happening?

Do you find yourself going back over the messages, again and again, asking the same question one more time because the answer still isn't making sense?

There was once complete trust in the relationship. Now it's shattered. Betrayal throws a thousand piece puzzle on the floor, and you've no idea how to start putting it back together.

I've worked with couples through exactly this - the raw, disorienting weeks right after infidelity is discovered - and built a structured programme specifically for this moment.

Now it's your turn to get through this.

What You Get

Your four-week programme includes:

Four 60-minute couples counselling sessions. One per week, in person or online.

Four 40-minute check-in calls. Additional guidance between sessions. Once per week, online or phone call.

Tailored Reflections. A video from me after each counselling session summarising our discussion, so you don't have to worry about key points being forgotten.

Plus, at no additional cost:

A Counsellor in Your Back Pocket

Confidential, individual email access, throughout the programme - and for two weeks after it ends. For the moments that don't wait for your next session.

The Between-Session Toolkit

For the hurt partner. Practical tools to manage obsessive thinking, flashbacks, and hypervigilance.

Your Personal Roadmap

An intake questionnaire + your own measures of progress, built together in week one, so you know what you're working toward, and how you'll know it's working.

The "Process & Progress" Exercise

Structured space for the partner involved in the infidelity, to reflect & define their own steps for how things are moving forwards.

The Conversation Guide

A step-by-step for talking about infidelity without it turning into the same fight, yours to keep and use long after the programme ends.

The Trust Markers Framework

Turning "I need you to change" into something concrete, specific, and actually achievable, built together in week three.

How the four weeks unfold

Week 01

Getting your bearings: We map what's actually happening day to day, and build your first structured way of talking about it, together.

Week 02

Building on what held: We refine what worked, add practical tools for the moments that spiral outside session, and make space for the partner who was hurt to process, individually.

Week 03

Turning needs into something real: Building a clear, shared agreement, and make space for the partner who was involved to process the harder, quieter questions.

Week 04

Where things stand: We look honestly at what's changed, using the measures that mattered to you, and decide together what comes next.

What makes this different?

It isn't generic advice

This isn't guidance to simply"communicate better", and we won't avoid what's happened. It's built specifically around things infidelity brings up: obsessive thinking, hypervigilance, disclosure, rebuilding trust.

Built for right now

This programme is designed explicitly for the overwhelming, disorienting weeks right after discovery. Where you both have no idea what to do next, and it feels like what's happened is consuming every facet of your lives.

Support when you need it

The next best thing to having a counsellor physically living in your home. Between-session email access, and toolkits for the exact, raw moments when you're struggling, not just the hour you're in the room with me.

Room for both of you

Individual space for each of you, including dedicated support for the partner who involved in the infidelity, not just the partner who was hurt.

No pressure on the outcome

I won't push you toward reconciliation, or toward forgiveness on any timeline. Whether you stay together is your decision, not a condition of the work.

Is this for me?

This is for couples where the discovery is recent, within the last few weeks or months, and things still feel acutely raw, chaotic, or unmanageable day to day.

It's for both of you, whether you were the one who was hurt, or the one who had the affair, if you're both willing to show up and do the work.

It's for couples who genuinely don't know yet whether they'll stay together, as much as for couples who already know they want to try.

Infidelity discovered a long time ago, where acute crisis has already passed. That's a different kind of work. We can discuss what might fit better if that's your situation.

It's not for situations where an affair is still ongoing or unresolved, that needs to be addressed before this kind of work can properly begin.

And it's not right if only one of you is willing to take part, this programme is built around both partners engaging, individually and together.

Peter Holder - Counselling in Birmingham.jpg

Your Counsellor

I'm Peter, a relationship counsellor based in Birmingham. I trained through Relate, a leading specialist provider of relationship support across England and Wales, and my training is accredited by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.

Infidelity now makes up nearly half of my work and I've seen how disorienting and isolating this specific kind of pain can be - for both partners, not just the one who was hurt.

Left unaddressed, that pain doesn't disappear, it settles into resentment, whether you stay together or separate.

The Clarity Programme is built from what I've learned actually works in the room, combined with established, evidence-based approaches to trust, emotional/psychological safety and recovery after betrayal. It's the structure I wished more couples had access to, right at the moment they need it most.

How to get started

STEP 01

Book a free call. No cost or obligations, just a chance to talk through your situation.

STEP 02

We check it's the right fit. If it's not, I'll do my best to point you somewhere that is.

STEP 03

We begin. Your first session starts the four-week programme. Ready?

From Crisis to Clarity

The Follow-Through Guarantee

If you attend all four sessions and check-ins, and engage honestly with the work, but your week four measures haven't meaningfully moved from where you started, I'll continue supporting you for a further two weeks at no additional charge, including an extra session, individual check-ins, and continued email access.

This isn't a promise about what you'll decide for your relationship. It's a commitment to the process itself: if you show up and it still isn't landing, you won't be left to work it out alone.

FAQs

Does this mean we're agreeing to stay together?

No. Starting this programme isn't an agreement to save or end the relationship. Whether you stay together is a separate decision. This process doesn't require you know that upfront; it's built to help you reach there with more clarity.

What if I'm not sure I even want to be here?

That's normal, and it's okay. Many couples start this work with one partner more certain than the other. The structure doesn't require full agreement from day one to be useful.

Will I be asked to relive details I'm not ready to talk about?

No. Conversations about specific details happen with consent, at a pace you both agree to. This isn't an interrogation for either partner.

I'm the one who had the affair. Will I be treated as the villain?

No. Your own distress, confusion, or guilt is an important part of this process and something I want to help you work through. It's often part of what makes real accountability possible.

Is this confidential?

Yes. What's said in session stays there, with very limited legal exceptions I'll explain clearly before we begin. Counselling sessions can also be arranged online if being seen locally is a concern.

Do you support same-sex & queer couples?

Absolutely, I'm fully inclusive in my work no matter your sexual and/or gender orientation. You are safe here.

Why only two clients a month?

This programme is intentionally high-touch - weekly sessions, weekly check-ins, and ongoing email access throughout. I limit how many couples I take on so I can actually deliver that properly.

What happens after the four weeks?

We review together what's changed, using the measures you set in week one. From there, you can move into ongoing weekly counselling, take more time before deciding, or bring the work to a close. There's no obligation to continue.

What if it doesn't work?

That's what The Follow-Through Guarantee is for. If you've engaged fully and it still isn't landing by week four, I'll continue supporting you for a further two weeks at no additional charge.
